Groups for the second round of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers have been finalized on 17th July 2019 at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur.

Nepal have been placed in Group B along with Australia, Chinese Taipei, Kuwait, and Jordan for the second round of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. This means Nepal have a very little chance to proceed to the next round, since Australia and Jordan are the tough teams in the group. Chinese Taipei and Kuwait are not a new and tough opponent for this round. At present (as of June 14 2019) Australia are ranked in 43rd place in FIFA World Ranking, likewise Jordan in 98, Chinese Taipei in 125, Kuwait in 156 and Nepal in 165.

Asian Cup Qualifiers and World Cup Qualifiers Nepal

Asia’s 40 countries have been divided into eight groups with each group of 5 nations. Each Group winners and four best runners-up teams i.e a total of twelve teams will advance to the final round of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023* finals. The qualifiers will begin from September 5, 2019 to June 9, 2020 in a home and away basis.

* In AFC Asian Cup China 2023, 24 teams will compete for which the twelve teams as mentioned earlier (8 group winner and 4 best runners-up teams) will advance to the finals where as the remaining 12 slots will be selected out of the next best 24 teams from the above listed second round teams through a separate competition.
