Rohit Chand Thakuri is the Nepal‘s most promising talented and highest paid footballer in the nation. He is also the only player who has played most of his game from professional clubs of different countries including Nepal, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Premier League clubs Arsenal and Tottenham, Rangers F.C. (Scottish Premiership), and Lille OSC (French club) showed interest in him after his sensational performance in the 1-1 draw against Jordan with the national team on the road to the 2014 World Cup which was played in Kathmandu.
Rohit chand Thakuri
Rohit Chand Thakuri was born in Surkhet, Nepal (born 1 March 1992). He started playing football at the age of 8 with his brother Rabin Chand Thakuri, who is also a semi-professional footballer, at the age of 13 Rohit was selected in ANFA ACADEMY, the only football academy for youth players in the country. After being selected in the academy he was able to make it into the U-16 National Team 2008. Due to the outstanding performance from U-16 side at the age of 16, Rohit was called up to the Senior National Team. This was the turning point of his Professional football career then after Chand started to show his magic in the ground. 25 years young Nepalese Professional footballer who plays as a midfielder is currently playing from for Indonesian club, Persija Jakarta in the Liga 1.

Machhindra Football Club


Nepali professional club Machhindra Football club is the first professional club that Rohit joined.Chand who played as a defender scored 6 goals from 22 appearances and was declared Man of the Match in 4 games during the season 2009/2010. Rohit was awarded best defender of the year award for his spectacular play during the 2010 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League.

HAL SC

Rohit Chand second club was HAL SC of the I-League in India. It was reported that Chand had
signed a 6-month contract with the club after trying his luck in Europe. Rohit played as a defender and scored 4 Goals in 38 appearances. In April, Chand scored a hat-trick in I-League match but despite his efforts his team went on to lose the match. And his efforts were not enough to prevent HAL from relegation in the I-League. His contract at HAL SC expired in 2012 after they were relegated from the top tier of I-League.

PSPS Pekanbaru

After the contract expired with HAL SC, Rohit Chand gave a trial at Indonesia Liga Side Arema where he was able to give an average performance, although he was not selected by the Club. But later on Rohit Chand was signed by another Indonesian side PSPS Pekanbaru for 10 months where he played 18 matches and score 1 goal during the season 2012/2013 at Indonesia Liga.

Persija Jakarta

In May 2013 he signed a 5-month contract with the Indonesian side Persija Jakarta in the Indonesian Super League. Chand was then nominated for the Young player of the year award for the same season in the Indonesian league. After his best performance he was awarded with 2 years of Contract with the same club. Rohit played from Persija Jakarta till end of 2015. Rohit play 46 matches from Persija Jakarta and was able to scored 6 goals during 2013/2015 season.

FC Vestsjaelland


Rohit has trained with the club for more than one and half months until 25 December 2013. He was offered with 6 months contract for reserved team as like Indian Goalkeeper Subrata Paul. Rohit's Manager Rabindra Chand denied the offer and placed Rohit to ISL club.

T-Team FC

Rohit signed a year deal with Malaysian Outfit T-Team FC in January 2016. He played 12 matches and scored 2 Goals. Rohit got injured during the match and has to leave the club for the full recovery. After the successful surgery of his knee, he came back to Nepal and rested for months. When Rohit was completely fit he joined Nepali club Manang Marshyangdi Club and played some major tournaments of Nepal and also a tournament in Bangladesh.

Return to Persija Jakarta

After a brief spell for local Nepalese club Manang Marshyangdi, it was announced that Chand had returned to Indonesian club, Persija Jakarta. Rohit Chand is currently playing in Indonesian League.
